The origin of Resilience Skill: the birth of a passion in the heart of a community

Today, I'd like to share with you my personal story and the birth of Resilience Skill, a path marked by sport, community and self-discovery.

An athlete in search of renewal

As a former national-level handball player, my athletic career was cut short by two serious knee injuries. This ordeal challenged me to find a sport that suited me—one that would allow me to push myself while also reconnecting with the team spirit I loved so much. After six years of searching, trying out various disciplines that were all too individualistic for my taste, I found my first sense of balance in cross-training at the gym.

Discover CrossFit® and build a community

Moving to the Vendée for work, I joined CrossFit® La Roche-en-Yon in 2014, the thirteenth CrossFit® box in France. It was a revelation. The atmosphere at the box was incredible, with everyone sharing a burning passion for this fledgling sport. We formed a very family-like community, meeting daily to share WODs and aperitifs in a spirit of solidarity and emulation. For me, it was the best time to be involved in CrossFit®, a time that doesn't seem to exist in the same way today.
Every workout was a mix of ages and skills, where 60-year-olds could surprise you with their strength, and where the first pull-ups were a major milestone for many of us. The gym manager, a true enthusiast, was a driving force of encouragement. I remember my first competition, when my classmates and coach came to support me. Those moments are engraved in my memory as unforgettable memories.

First steps in T-shirt design

Motivated by this enthusiastic atmosphere and my training as a graphic designer, I started designing t-shirts for my box. The aim was to enable our community to proudly wear our gym's colors during competitions, reinforcing our team spirit, a bit like a handball team. It was a natural extension of my commitment to this community and this box we loved.
The warm reception of the t-shirts I'd designed for the box was the catalyst for my first venture into apparel. Community members were not only happy to wear my creations, but many also encouraged me to launch my own brand to offer more designs and options. At the time, most of the sportswear available was quite basic, often just adorned with the brand name. I wanted to offer something more original and attractive.

Creation of a first brand

In 2015, inspired by this dynamic, I created my first brand under the name "Marmule Fabric", a nickname we shared in our community. This project was first and foremost a passion, as I was already working full-time as a graphic and web designer. I opened a small store on Spreadshirt, where anyone could buy t-shirts with my designs.

In 2018, I took a new step by launching my graphic design and web development business: Dioxyjen Graphic. That’s when my textile business really took off, driven by requests from friends who knew I had already created collections for my subscription box. After several tests, supplier searches, and design explorations, I decided to launch my own brand, featuring more technical pieces like sports bras and shorts. The community’s enthusiasm was growing, orders were pouring in, and I felt it was time to formalize this budding business.

A pivotal step in the company's history

In 2019, after several years of designing textile collections for my community, I asked two friends to join me in co-founding a company and formalizing this growing business.

What was supposed to be a shared entrepreneurial adventure turned out to be the toughest experience of my professional career. Over the months, the gap between the commitment I expected from an association and the reality of day-to-day operations became too wide. I put a lot—too much—into it, and I realized that this association could not continue under these conditions without exhausting me and damaging the project itself. When I expressed my desire to end it, the conflict shifted to the legal arena at their initiative.

Following proceedings before the Rennes Commercial Court and court-ordered mediation, I sold all of my shares for a nominal amount in June 2021. I left everything behind: the brand, the identity, the designs, the domain name—everything that had defined my professional life for years.

I started from scratch. No logo, no name, no client base, no visual identity.

Resilience Skill: Rebirth

Looking back, I can say that this challenge was one of the greatest gifts of my professional life, even though I didn’t see it that way at the time. Forced to rebuild everything from scratch, I had the rare freedom to start with a clean slate—without compromises, without legacy constraints, and without a partner to convince.

Despite this setback, I wasn’t ready to give up on my dream. It was with renewed determination that I founded Resilience Skill, a brand that deeply embodies my personal and professional values. For me, it’s not just a business: it’s a life’s work, an expression of everything I believe in: freedom, loyalty, honesty, respect, and the strength to bounce back.

Resilience Skill was designed to be much more than just a sportswear brand. Every piece we create tells a story—one of perseverance, passion, and transformation. Those who choose to wear our clothing aren’t just showing their support for the brand; they’re embracing and spreading the values it stands for.

I am deeply proud to see that, over the years, Resilience Skill has become a true symbol for our community, offering more than just a product—it has become a standard-bearer for our shared values.

The word “resilience” has never been just a marketing concept to me. It’s a scar that has become part of my identity. A lived experience, transformed into a driving force, a brand, and a community.

A family and now international adventure

Today, the Resilience Skill team is made up of members of my own family. After an experience where trust was betrayed, I chose to rebuild with my loved ones. Their support has been crucial—not simply because of family ties, but as a conscious and deliberate choice . Together, we face daily challenges, and with every decision, we take the time to nurture what matters most to me: clarity, loyalty, and respect for everyone’s work.

Our ambition doesn’t stop there. Resilience Skill is recognized throughout Europe, and our next goal is to gain international recognition, reflecting the global reach of our sport. This desire to expand reflects our passion and commitment to CrossFit®, a sport we deeply love and wish to honor through our brand.
This passion-driven brand is the result of my journey, tangible proof that even in the face of adversity, with resilience and dedication, it is possible to achieve one’s dreams. Resilience Skill is not just a business; it is a reflection of my life, my struggles, and my triumphs.

Conclusion: Turning challenges into strengths

Every challenge I’ve faced—especially the most unfair ones—has shaped the person and entrepreneur I am today. I’ve learned the hard way the value of a solid legal framework, a promise kept, and mutual trust. I’ve also learned that it’s possible to turn anger into motivation and loss into growth .
Failures are not merely obstacles; they are lessons that show the way. Admitting that you were vulnerable at some point is not a sign of weakness, but a crucial step toward becoming stronger and more resilient. Resilience Skill was born from this philosophy, transforming every challenge into a source of motivation and inspiration.

Today, thanks to this resilience, I continue to push Resilience Skill towards new horizons. This is how we evolve, grow and affirm our commitment to excellence, carried by a community that shares these values of strength and courage.
I'll always be nostalgic for good times past, while recognizing that the complexity of the human being can sometimes give rise to unforeseen challenges. This realization has taught me that the most crucial thing is to find within ourselves the strength to rise above our circumstances.

Resilience Skill isn't just the result of my work; it's an affirmation that despite setbacks, we all have the power to aspire to more, to rise and to succeed.
